Incident Synopsis
The 911 call was received just after 5:30 am, Tuesday morning reporting a worker trapped in machinery at this steel mill plant in North Charlotte. As members of the public safety agencies arrived they located a contractor who was apparently killed instantly while working on a large steel furnace. The contractor was in the process of reassembling a furnace that was being serviced when this accident took place. The Charlotte Fire Dept was able to secure the scene and ensure the equipment remained safe as CMPD and NC Dept of Labor arrived to investigate the cause.
